Before you use Göbeklitepe

This is the notice shown in the Göbeklitepe app. It applies equally to this website.

• Nobody is watching. Göbeklitepe does not monitor you or your wellbeing, and it will not alert anyone or send help if something goes wrong.
• Information can be wrong. Routes, maps, GPS positions, distances, opening hours, timings, weather, accommodation, and anything written by other visitors, businesses or our AI may be inaccurate or out of date. Follow local signs, closures and official advice on site.
• Your phone can fail. GPS, signal, battery and the app can stop working at any moment. Don't rely on it alone to find your way.
• You visit at your own risk. You decide whether, where and when to go, based on your health, fitness, equipment and the conditions on the day. Uneven ground, heat and travel can lead to serious injury or death.
• Plan for emergencies yourself. Tell someone you trust your plans and when you expect to be back, and know how to contact the local emergency services.

1. Inherent risks of visiting Göbeklitepe and the sites around it

These risks are part of the visit itself — they are not caused by Göbeklitepe and cannot be eliminated:

• Uneven, loose or slippery ground, steps and walkways; drops at the edges of excavations and viewpoints
• Heat and sudden severe weather: heat stroke, dehydration, sunburn, cold, thunderstorms, flash floods
• Getting lost or delayed on unmarked, poorly-marked or changed paths and roads between sites
• Wildlife encounters: snakes, wild dogs, boars and stinging insects
• Remote places with no mobile signal and limited emergency access
• Physical strain in the heat, especially with a heart or other medical condition
• Trips, falls, sprains and fractures
• Waterborne and foodborne illness
• Crime, theft, or traffic accidents in transit between sites

2. Accuracy of our route and site information

Göbeklitepe compiles route data from multiple sources — official route authorities, volunteer surveyors, OpenStreetMap, and local agencies. We make every reasonable effort to keep it accurate. However:

• Conditions change. A path, road or part of a site that was open last season may be closed, flooded or damaged today.
• Distances and elevations are estimates. They may differ from what you encounter.
• Signs and rules change. Not all our descriptions may reflect the latest signs, opening hours or access rules on site.
• GPS tracks may drift or contain errors. Offline maps are only as current as when we last synced them.
• Point-of-interest data (accommodation, restaurants, opening hours, bus times) can be out of date within days.

You must verify critical information locally before you set out, and follow local signs, closures and official advice on site. Do not rely on our app alone to find your way.

3. Your responsibility

You are responsible for:

• Being honest with yourself about your health and fitness before each visit
• Carrying enough water (at least 3 L in summer), sun protection, suitable footwear and basic first aid
• Telling someone you trust your plans and when you expect to be back
• Checking the weather forecast on the day of every visit (we recommend mgm.gov.tr)
• Having adequate travel insurance that covers medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation
• Following site rules and staff instructions, keeping to marked paths and walkways, and turning back when conditions demand it

4. Tours, guides and other services

Accommodation, guiding, luggage transfers, tours and other services listed on Göbeklitepe are supplied by independent businesses, and your contract for them is with that business. Göbeklitepe is not responsible for the safety practices, equipment or insurance of those businesses. Ask each provider for proof of their own liability insurance and safety procedures before booking, follow your guide's instructions, and tell them about any medical conditions. 5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pixelo Mobile Ltd (trading as Göbeklitepe) is not liable for any loss, damage, injury or death arising from your visits or your reliance on our website, app or route or site information. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
